The Newport Restoration Foundation, a museum and preservation organization in Newport, RI is seeking a qualified applicant to join our Grounds and Gardens Crew, at our oceanfront Rough Point museum. This role provides year round maintenance of the ground and facilities of historic properties with the ability to work in a variety of inclement weather conditions. Work is performed as part of a crew or independently. Gardener/Landscaper is available as an on call employee for snow removal and disaster response.

NRF is seeking a Field Carpenter to contribute to the organization’s dynamic and growing Preservation Department. This position will assist with restoration and routine repair and maintenance of NRF’s collection of over 80 18th– and 19th-century houses, the majority of which are rented to residential or commercial tenant stewards. The Field Carpenter will serve as part of a larger Preservation Crew composed of five carpenters and four painters, all overseen by the Preservation Crew Supervisor.

Job Summary: The Conservation & Collections Care Technician plays an integral role in the stewardship of NRF Collections, including the research, documentation, preservation, and conservation of objects to ensure their long-term care and accessibility to the public. This position will be based primarily at Rough Point Museum and will work with collections housed at Rough Point and at offsite storage.
