Full Job Description
POSITION: Director of Human Resources
GENERAL DUTIES: The Director of Human Resources is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director of Administrative Services/Business Manager to ensure alignment between HR and finance. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment and retention, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, compliance and safety.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or designee
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Human Resources or Business Administration.
2.Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
3.Two to four years of experience in a human resource role, school experience preferred.
4.Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local requirements to ensure legal compliance.
5.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others in both verbal and written format.
6.Demonstrated knowledge of, and an ability to use, computer technology as it relates to the job responsibilities (Microsoft Word and Excel, Google)
7.Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational or related experience, professional activities and/or the interview process.
8.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the committee may find acceptable and appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Administers or oversees the administration of human resources programs including, but not limited to, employee relations, recognition and morale; recruitment and retention; new hire orientation; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; evaluations; compensation, benefits and leave; occupational health and safety; and training and development. 2.Partner with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other regulations.
3.Maintain and coordinate employee wellness programs.
4.Coordinate hiring process to ensure compliance with policies, labor laws, and union contracts.
5.Maintain working relationships with union officials and participate in union activities, including but not limited to daily contract administration, negotiations, and grievances.
6.Oversee districts benefits program for employees and retirees, including medical, dental, and life insurance plans.
7.Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice and resources to upper management.
8.Maintain personnel data, certifications and evaluations in RIDE portal, as well attend required RIDE HR training
9.Supervise and formally evaluate the HR Administrative
10.Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends School Committee meetings as requested by the Superintendent.
11.Develop an annual human resources budget and monitor the same.
12.Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
TERMS OFEMPLOYMENT: Admin Salary Grade 6 ($93,639-$122,909.30 based on experience); benefits as established for all administrative positions.
EVALUATION: In accordance with School Committee Policy.
