CURRENT OPEN POSITION:
Now it's time to start recruiting for a "full-time" Barista / Front of the House position to start mid-August. We need someone who will be available Wednesday through Sunday, 6am - 2:30pm. Ideal start date for this role is August 13th, but we are able to start this position sooner (likely fewer hours) to have some training time.

So what is the role all about??
We LOVE our customers - regulars, newbies, locals and visitors. And your role is crucial in ensuring all of our customers have an amazing experience in the Café.

The most important responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

• Prep front of the house for opening each day, which includes setting up the pastry counter, brewing coffee, ensuring the dining area is clean and set up correctly, restocking drinks, etc.
• Assist customers with menu, pastry and beverage / coffee selections
• Prepare drinks upon customer's request, including espresso drinks (barista training provided)
• Accurately check customers out with their purchases using our Square POS
• Maintain a clean & organized dining area (indoor and out) and all areas behind the counter
• Closing down the front at 2pm, which includes cleaning the dining area, coffee pots, front counter, taking out trash, dishes, etc.

And what are the minimum requirements for this role?

• Must be 18+ and will be required to become TIPS Certified, if you are not already, given that you will be serving alcohol to customers
• Previous food service experience is required
• Ability to multi-task and effectively communicate with both customers and team members alike
• Attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness is required
• Able to lift 50 lbs (infrequent but always a possibility)

What are some other things you need to be successful in this role?

• Patience - we offer so many yummy pastries, it may take a customer time to decide.
• Stamina - you will be on your feet for 8 1/2 hours, and sometimes the most comfie sneakers just won't be enough.
• Personality - this is customer facing so if you don't like talking to people 8 1/2 hours a day, this isn't the job for you. We want you to get to know our regulars, remember their favorites, and enjoy their company when they stop in for a coffee, breakfast, or to hang out all day working on their laptop. We love that!!!

Our team is smaller in the off-season, so we need individuals who can work independently at times, who can handle the pressure of taking care of our customers even as lines may form, and who knows how to take advantage of the down time (clean, stock up, etc).
