Full Job Description
Position: Janitor
Program: NUWC/WAR COLLEGE, Naval Station Newport
Hours:
Navy Clinic: 7am-2pm M-F
Navy War College: 9am-4pm M-F
POSITION SUMMARY:
A Janitor's duties and responsibilities can include general cleaning of a building and keeping it maintained and in good condition. This can include vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing restrooms, taking out trash and recycling and washing and cleaning windows and mirrors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training
· Completes and maintains all required State mandated trainings such as, Universal Precautions, CPR / First Aid, Signs & Symptoms of Illness & Injury and Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals (BHDDH) CORE trainings within 90 days of employment;
· Attends meetings and training sessions as required by BHDDH and JLMC;
Daily Programing
- Responsible for receiving and carrying out the instructions and directions for his/her crew issued by the supervisor and Team Leader;
- Assures satisfactory completion of work assigned;
- Perform any other job related duties requested by management;
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them;
- Gather and empty trash/recycling;
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors;
- Clean/dust walls, furniture, partitions, white & caulk boards, handrails etc.;
- Clean drinking fountains;
- Shampoo carpets;
- Stripping, coating and polishing floors;
- Spray cleaning and buffing floors;
- Service, clean, and supply restroom/shower/locker rooms;
- Other tasks typical of a janitor’s duties;
· Must maintain a professional appearance, arrive to work on time and be able to follow instructions from the Janitorial Manager or designee;
· Works all assigned schedules, including but not limited to: arriving and departing on time,
requesting time off in advance, and notifying your supervisor of changes to your assigned work
schedule;
· Ensures each individuals’ rights are protected;
· Treats individuals with dignity and respect;
Communication
· Observes individuals for evidence of injury or bruises and evaluates for changes in emotional and physical status;
· Reports any noted problems to the Janitorial Manager or Supervisor, or Team Leader immediately and completes a written incident report form;
· Reports all medical related incidents to the Janitorial Manager or Supervisor and the delegating nurse;
· Acts as a representative for James L. Maher Center in a professional manner when required, to families, service coordinators, State officials, community partners, local businesses, and employers;
· Represents James L. Maher Center in a professional manner to families, service coordinators,
State officials, and community partners when required;
· Maintains Participant’s’ confidentiality;
Teamwork
· Treats all individuals and coworkers and with dignity, respect, and fairness;
· Provides support to other team members when individuals are having behavioral issues
Safety
· Assists individuals when entering and exiting vehicles while on community outings, as well as entering and exiting the building safely;
· Reports unsafe conditions, environment, and equipment to the Janitorial Manager;· Follows safety protocols to foster a safe working environment;
All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Valid driver’s license- Real ID
Ability to lift/push/pull 50lbs.
U.S. Government Background Investigation
A favorable National Criminal Background check along with OIG clearance
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Encompasses all Janitorial positions.
