Sightsailing of Newport offers daily sailing tours and private charters aboard the 80 foot schooner Aquidneck, and 46' sloop Sightsailer in Newport, RI.

For those who enjoy physical outdoor work on the water, talking with people, have a friendly demeanor, and like being part of a team, this is the job for you.

Public Speaking & Hospitality Experience: You need to be a people person. Having a good "stage presence" and public speaking skills is important. You need to be comfortable "reading the room" and be natural engaging with guests and pointing out some sights all while sometime serving a cup of champagne or beer. Being able to project your voice on the windy deck of a boat and address small groups is important.

You'll be hoisting and lowering big sails, pulling on sheets, jumping on to a dock, carrying coolers, scrubbing decks, etc. Crew actively help sail the boat so you should have the strength and stamina to sail up to 5 trips a day each trip being an hour and 40 minutes.

Drug Testing: Crew are required to take a pre employment drug test and participate in an industry required random drug testing program. We are governed by federal law so testing includes use of marijuana which is not permitted.

Availability: Crew for the 80' schooner need to be available from early May through October, while others for Sightsailer should be available from Mid to late May through Labor Day. Since this is a seasonal job, please don't ask for a 2 week family vacation at the height of the season.

Sailing Experience: Understanding the basics of sailing and having sailing knowledge experience is necessary. You should know the difference between tacking and gybing, heading up, bearing away, etc.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $200.00 - $350.00 per day
